Idaho – the state of magnificent San Valley and the Rocky Mountains

Idaho is a state disposed in the northwestern part of United States, which borders with seven other states: from the north with British Columbia, the Canadian province, from the west to Oregon and Washington state, to the south – to Nevada, to the southeast from Utah, and from the east with Montana and Wyoming. The populace of the state is almost 1.4 million people, and its name is due to lobbyist George M. Willing, who offered this name for the state. According to his version, this word referred to the lexicon of the local Indian tribe and meant “the pearl of the mountains,” but later it was found that this term was invented by Willing himself. Initially, this area was called Colorado, but then returned its name as Idaho in 1863. Idaho can be defined as the most inaccessible one among the states of the Rocky Mountains due to its numerous natural beauties, which are often placed in isolation and difficult to access. But in spite of this, it is nature that is the main attraction of this region, therefore it is worthwhile to plan ahead well the trip to Idaho, so as not to lose sight of the most interesting places.

As already noted, the incomparable nature and extraordinary landscapes are the main attractions of this state, mostly accumulated in the mountainous north, whereas in the southern part of Idaho the basalt plateau of the Snake River, originating in Yellowstone Park, where you can see the picturesque canyon with walls of lava. Here, undoubtedly, the most beautiful part is Hells Canyon, which is a deep gorge near the place where the river flows into the Columbia basin.

But, it must be noted that Idaho is not only nature, but also its interesting capital Boise, disposed in the south-western part of the state, where state institutions, large cultural and shopping centers are concentrated. Here you can visit many interesting museums, including the Boise Museum of Art, the Basque Museum, the Idaho Discovery Center, the cultural center and the Idaho Historical Museum. Enjoying all the cultural sights of the capital, you can relax in numerous parks, which give a special flavor and comfort to the whole city. Meanwhile, in Julia Davis Park you can also visit the zoo.

In addition to the capital, there are other attractive cities to visit, such as, Nampu, Pocatello and others.
