It can be said that China is not just a country, but it is a whole world in which is included the whole ranges from modern megacities to epic meadows, sacred peaks, stunning imperial ruins and caves. The so-called Skeleton of the Dragon opens to the visitors as the expanse of green hills, intersected by terraces of rice fields glistening in the sun. These Longsheng rice paddy fields were created more than 500 years ago during the Ming Dynasty and are located near Guilin in Guangxi Province.
The Terracotta Army in Xi’an was accidentally discovered in 1974 and today it is among the most exciting and most important archaeological sites in the world. Disposed in Shaanxi Province in Xi’an, it consists of approximately 8,000 terracotta armed soldiers in stone armor and with horses that guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. This is truly a wonderful sight, and archaeologists are still trying to reveal the immensity and power of the first Chinese emperor.
Further, it is certainly worth seeing the Huangguoshu waterfalls, which are the largest in Asia, also called the Milky Way in miniature. The waterfalls are in the Huangguoshu National Park in Guizhou Province, about 45 km from Anshun. This spectacle is a mass of crystal clear water, emitted from a height of 74 meters into the Baishui River. This running and boiling water is really impressive and is a dazzling show.
One of the World Heritage sites is the Stone Forest, which stretches over a vast area of more than 30,000 hectares and is covered with 30 meter high rock peaks that can be seen from a distance and appear to be trunks of petrified trees. The stone forest is located in Yunnan and it is known that these famous rocks were formed more than 270 million years ago due to the erosion of sea waters and winds. In this area, you can follow four different routes to discover the most exciting and strangest forms.
The Giant Buddha is the largest Buddha statue in the world, which rises near the city of Leshan, in Sichuan province. The statue appears as a seated Buddha, with his hands on the knees, which is carved into the rock, in the very place where the merging of the rivers Minjiang, Dada and Qin. The purpose of the statue was to protect merchant ships moving along the waters of these rivers. This huge statue height of 71 meters and a width of 28 meters looks one of the four sacred mounts of China, Emei Shan.
