Disposed on islands in South-East Asia and separated from the Malacca Peninsula by the narrow Johor Strait, the Republic of Singapore represents the city-state as a union, bordering the Sultanate of Johor, part of Malaysia, and the Riau Islands, which are part of Indonesia. The name of the city has its origin from the symbiosis of the Malay “Singa”, that is the lion, and the Sanskrit pura – the city.
Singapore is a metropolis with a populace of 5 million, covering an area of 719.1 km², but the city is in constant growth according to the program of development of territories, which is in effect from the 1960s. To date, the state of Singapore includes 63 islands, the largest of which is the main island of Singapore.
This city is known as a garden – city because of its vast tropical parks, and despite its multimillion population, it is a neat and harmonious place projected for the future, where different cultures and religions coexist in peace and harmony. It offers magnificent views of the colorful futuristic harbor and, being a former British colony, Singapore is mesmerized by its modern architecture, unusual traditional, ethnic neighborhoods, the brightest of which are China Town, Little India and Kampong Glam.

The Chinatown of the city can really enchant with its picturesque surroundings, where the home-shops are combined with the rest of the landscape, this is the place where you can plunge into the lives of local people, play chess, snuggling in a restaurant, waiting for a typical Chinese dish.
Wildlife lovers will be able to visit the Night Safari Zoo famous for its unique open areas for animals, which at the same time are safe for visitors. Here you can see giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia.
One more interesting place in Singapore is the Arab quarter, where lovers of shopping can visit the fashion boutique of Haji Lane, in the heart of this quarter.
